Tender Description

The work is for the refurbishment of a portion (approximately ¾ of the area) of the ground floor of the Heritage listed Customs House to form a “Smart Hub”. The area scheduled to be refurbished comprises of the former restaurant dining room, two offices, a store room and associated corridor, and rear entrance alcove.
The Smart Hub shall comprise:
• An open plan office area with four small offices and reception area located within the footprint of the former dining room; a dividing wall shall be erected to separate the former dining room from the catering kitchen which does not form part of these works;
• One of the former offices shall be divided to form two small offices;
• The former store shall be converted into a staff kitchen; and
• The entrance alcove will be enclosed to form a rear entrance foyer.
The Customs House was constructed in 1899, its classification is State Heritage. It should be noted that works to the existing interior fabric of the building will be minimal, however an application for approval of all works to be undertaken has been submitted by Rockhampton Regional Council to Cultural Heritage.
