Hazell Bros is one of four tenderers to be shortlisted to bid for the Grafton Waterfront Precinct project.

The Clarence River Way Masterplan, adopted by Clarence River Council in 2009, recognises the untapped potential of the Clarence River. The strategic importance of the Grafton to spread the tourism load to act as a hub for the region and to become know as the “River City”, and for the development of the Grafton Waterfront Precinct as part of these strategies.

The Grafton Waterfront Precinct Masterplan was adopted by council in 2011 and a Commonwealth funding grant has been provided to develop the plans and construct the waterfront project.

The Project is effectively to construct a shared use footpath that will double as vehicle assess along the flood plain and below the levee wall of Grafton from Prince St to Clarence St and from Salty Seller Reserve to the Sailing Club.
This project will connect the shared use path over the new bridge to the city and to activate the city’s Waterfront parkway.
The Project will also connect the pathway into the neighbourhood via connections links at each road intersection, such as Prince, Duke, Villiers, Clarence and Fitzroy Streets. These will include a number of wheelchair accessible assess paths and stairways down the 8m high levee wall to the waterfront.
From the path will there will also be connections to the waters edge via beach entry sections, wharfs, a boat ramp and boat pontoons to encourage water use.
The connection of the waterfront to the town via Prince Street at Memorial Park, a number of facilities will be developed including a revitalised toilet block, further activation of the city end of the town to engage with the waterfront precinct.
